Dragons (TCG)

Dragons

Dragons were mythical creatures of Rokugan and the symbol of the Dragon Clan. [1] The Elemental River in Tengoku was their home, tended by ryujin, lesser dragon servants. [2] A constellation was named after them. [3]

Creation[]

The Elemental Dragons were created after Onnotangu and Amaterasu named the earth, becoming part of the shinzoku, or tribe of the gods, who attended them in the Heavens. [4]

Maintaining Weather[]

Elemental Dragons maintained the weather overseeing giant divine machineries that cycled the seasons, adjusting heat and cold, delivering rain and snow, clearing away clouds, and meting out natural disasters. [5]

Elemental Dragons[]

The Elemental Dragons, guardians of Tengoku, keepers of Enlightenment, who could take any shape and appear anywhere they wished. The tribe of Isawa understood the Elemental Dragons to be personifications of natural forces, composed not only of the five elements, but also of the philosophical concepts the elements represented. The largest shrine to the Elemental Dragons was in Phoenix lands, and the library within it was the largest repository of knowledge on these ancient beings. Dragons rarely involved themselves in mortal affairs, dedicated as they were to maintaining the balance of the cosmos and protecting the Celestial Heavens. In the 12th century they had not appeared before mortals in centuries. [6]

Known Dragons[]

According to Rokugani texts, there were at least six immortal dragons: the five Elemental Dragons, and the Thunder Dragon. [6]
