Doji Rin was the Crane Clan Champion and Emerald Champion under the reign of Hantei XVI.

Courtly Maneuvers[]

Rin was a decent courtier in an era of mediocre ones, and he spent much of his life as the top political figure in the Empire. Rin attempted several political maneuvers that were quite transparent power plays to the Emperor Hantei XVI. [1]

Golden Legion[]

In 591 Rin proposed the creation of a new Imperial Legion to patrol the roads of the Empire, with his brother Doji Hekiro as the commander. Rin secretly hoped to use this legion to support Crane mercantile interests and trade routes throughout the Empire. The Emperor Hantei XVI, the Golden Chrysanthemum, approved the formation of the new legiomn, but it was named the Golden Legion and the Miya Daimyo Miya Karuo was placed in charge of it. [2]

Downfall[]

Hantei XVI had seen a sinister plot to create an army outside of his control, and set out to discredit and ruin Doji Rin. He carried out a whispering campaign against the man with the assistance of his advisor Shosuro Tsia, and also seduced Rin's only child and beloved daughter, Doji Hime, taking her as his concubine. By the end of the Winter Court of 591, Doji Rin was a broken man and retired as a monk. [3]
