Doji Norie was a courtier of the Crane Clan. She owned copies of both The Subtlety of the Court and The Book of Sun Tao. During her career she spent ten years in Ryoko Owari among the Scorpion's court and ten more in Otosan Uchi among the Imperial Families. In 1160 she was the Doji Academy's headmaster, usually cheerful and genial. Those who performed well were praised and those who failed were subject to scathing reprimands and subjected to harsh manual labor. [1]
