Doji's Fan was a small, fragile, sandalwood fan that beared the personal mon of Lady Doji herself. It had a single hair caught in the blades, and it was unknown whether it was a hair from Doji or Lady Shinjo. The fan was given to Shinjo by Doji when she left for the Burning Sands. Doji could not bear to lose her sister, and because the two were so close Shinjo promised that her descendants would return. Doji gave the fan to Shinjo for luck on her journeys. It was later returned to Doji Ryobu when the Unicorn returned to Rokugan in 815. The fan was kept in an intricate jade box, tied with a purple ribbon and bearing the mon of the Unicorn Clan. [1]
Gift of Horses[]
In addition to the return of Lady Doji's Fan the Unicorn, as a thanks for the Crane support in the courts, gifted the Crane with a number of their horses. Within a generation the Crane had developed a cavalry unit, and named it Doji's Fan in honor of the item that had triggered its creation. [2]
