Daidoji Nobuso was a bushi of the Crane Clan.
Station[]
Nobuso defended the Crane lands from the Crab armies or large bandit groups. An unfortunate injury prevented him from leading from the front lines, and Nobuso was appoited as chief yojimbo to Doji Raigu, the Crane Clan Champion's young son. By the time Raigu reached twenty-five years of age, Nobuso had already thwarted three assassination attempts. [1]
Gozoku Conspiracy[]
In time, Nobuso noticed that Raigu had frequent meetings with the Scorpion Clan Champion Bayushi Atsuki, and an influential Phoenix lord who served as the Emperor's personal scribe, Shiba Gaijushiko. Nobuso began to focus more on what his lord was doing, and horrified discovered his charge's involvement in the Gozoku conspiracy, including their plan to kidnap the Imperial Heir. [1]
Ronin[]
Raigu soon realized that his bodyguard had exposed his shady dealings, and requested him to commit seppuku. Nobuso refused and killed three of Raigu's personal guard in his flight from Kyuden Doji. Nobuso was declared a murderer and a ronin, hunted by the magistrates and Bounty Hunters for a year, before the Gozoku leaders decided he had either died or fled and was no longer a concern. Nobuso gathered a small band of highly trained ronin who harried the Gozoku's holdings for several years as outlaws. [1]
Imperial Spymaster and Death[]
In 435 [2] the Gozoku was finally exposed and destroyed by the Empress Hantei Yugozohime, and Nobuso became her personal spymaster. On his deathbed, Raigu's heir pardoned him for all crimes and proclaimed him a hero. [1]
