Moon Cultists were those Rokugani who considered Lord Moon to be the preeminent divine figure, devoting themselves to him in clandestine ceremonies. [1]

Tradition[]

Most of theses cults tended to be loosely organized, without complicated or rigid hierarchies, and they were typically disorderly, even anarchic. A cult leader had usually assumed leadership simply by virtue of being particularly charismatic. Moon cults each tended to develop their own particular practices based on what they believe about Onnotangu. Most moon cults held their meetings in remote or secretive locations at night, often in conjunction with particular phases of Lord Moon. Venerating Lord Moon was not illegal, but they were viewed with suspicion because they used to incorporate what were generally considered to be sinful practices, including crimes. [2]

Moon People[]

Moon People

Some moon cultists believed of the existence of Moon People. The moon was not just a manifestation of Onnotangu, but also a physical place, upon which Lady Sun's tears and Lord Moon's blood fell and created people. These moon people live there, but they sometimes traveled to the mortal world in heavenly ships similar to kobune. Others believed that when the moon touched the horizon, the moon people were simply able to walk from one place to the other. Moon people were supposedly characterized by “tells” in their appearance such as large, splotchy birthmarks or people with eyes of two different colors, or with pale skin and hair and pinkish eyes.
