The Cornejo family hailed from the gaijin nation Merenae and were known as masters of explosives. Espada Cornejo was the first man to discover polvora and made the first flintlock firearm. The Cornejo, more than any other family of Merenae had had much contact with Rokugan, especially with the Mantis Clan. [1]
