The Coin Sect was one of the ten Kolat sects. Its purpose was to increase the Kolat conspiracy's wealth as much as possible. [1]
Purpose[]
The sect took its origin with the actions of former master Doji Akae, whose enormous wealth allowed to bribe numerous people in order to save Kolat agents during the Kolat purges and the War Against Shadow. Doji Akae became the first Master Coin. [2]
Internal Debate[]
After the crippling attacks of the Lying Darkness and Shinjo's purge the kolat were disorganized, and many critical agents were isolated. The organization sought a new focus, torn between their desire to remake the Celestial Order and the more pragmatic desire to ensure the organizations existence. The Tiger, Cloud, Lotus, and Dream Masters were traditional Kolat, with Master Cloud the most vocal member of the group. The Steel, Coin] Silk, and Chrysanthemum Masters all adhered to the modern philosophy. Neither Master Jade nor Master Roc seemed interested in this ongoing debate. [3] The latter philosophy was championed by Morito and it seemed to be winning out. [4]

The objective was controversial among other sects, as most members of the Kolat were from the samurai caste, and to a samurai, money was supposed to be unimportant. Its effectiveness could not however be denied. [2]
Yasuki Jinn-Kuen[]
Yasuki Jinn-Kuen became Master Coin usurping Moshi Shanegon post. Shanegon was an ineffective master, chosen for this position by the current Master Steel, Morito. Shanegon retreated from Rokugan to the Ivory Kingdoms [5] and plotted a return with a number of his sect who viewed him as the true Master Coin. [6]

After the Fall of the Hidden Temple[]
The Coin Sect survived the fall of the Hidden Temple with less damage than almost any other branch of the organization, and if the Kolat rise again during the Iweko Dynasty, it would likely be the work of Master Coin. [7]
