Bokatu was the son of the headman of a small village. In the forest nearby a corruptor oni took residence, and it wished to command the village. Bokatu obligued the rest of the peasants to pay tribute to the monster, to avoid the demon's retribution. A monk appeared in the forest and destroyed the oni in personal combat, which was sent back to Jigoku. [1]
