Blood Magic was the primitive and pure magic practitioned by the Tribe of Isawa before the Fall of the Kami. It relied in the worshipping of the Fortunes with blood offerings to get their blessings. [1] It was primarily a ritualistic practice with many spellcasters joining together and contributing their blood in the effort. [2]

The blood magic was replaced by the more sophisticated elemental magic. It was nearly abandoned when it was realized its dangers and link to the taint. The pure magic was twisted by the kansen who had spread over Rokugan after Fu Leng opened the Festering Pit a portal to Jigoku. [3]
Maho[]
Those who still practiced this magic became Maho-tsukai, eager followers of powers through the corruption of his own soul. [4]
