
A Biwa Player
Biwa was a pear-shaped lute, [1] with four to five strings, five frets and was played using a thing pick made of wood or ivory. The most famous biwa was the Biwa of Kakita that Kakita carved out of a piece of driftwood and gave to Lady Doji. [2] [3]
