The Bitter Flower was a Mantis Clan kobune [1]

Spirit Wars[]

The ship was used for smuggling supplies to the Spirit armies during the War of Spirits under the command of Yoritomo Leshanu, who was promoted to Yoritomo Aramasu's advisor for his exploits. His first mate, Yoritomo Kitao, became the new captain. [2]

Yoritomo Kitao[]

Kitao sought revenge against her former commander, furious that Leshanu accepted the reward that was rightfully hers. She eventually ambushed and destroyed Leshanu's ship, killing him in the fight. [2] When Kitao became Mantis Clan Champion the Bitter Flower was used as the flagship of the Mantis fleets. On its board Yoritomo Kumiko defeated Kitao and killed Settozai. [3]

Tainted Ship[]

Upon Kitao's fall from the championship, she took it and patrolled the seas in the name of the clan, until it was caught in the Rain of Blood. [1] The ship then sailed with the Dark Wave Fleet, as the Bitter Flower was heavily Tainted by the rain. [4] It appeared in the final battle of the War of Fire and Thunder grotesquely mutated. It became the grave of both Kitao and Yoritomo Kumiko, who were both killed by the living cannons Garen Hawthorne had installed on the ship. [5]

Destroyed[]

Later in the battle, the ship was destroyed when Yoritomo Kaigen's hammer of water dashed the Dark Wave Fleet against Isawa Sachi's island anvil. [5]
