Bayushi's Smile Theater was the Second City's prime location for Kabuki plays. [1]

The black and red building was three stories tall, the tallest in the Artisan District, and it could host up to six plays at the same time. At night the exterior blazed with the light of hundreds of golden lanterns. The interior had corridors full of lacquered furniture with paintings adorning the walls, and the rooms were designed to be easily modified. [1]

Shosuro Actors lived in the Theater itself, but other troupes were allowed to perform here by the Theater's director. Their Kabuki plays were a mix of classics and new favorites. [1]
