Asako Raikū was an elderly monk who oversaw Kyūden Asako in general and the palace library in particular. Historical scholarship was Raikū's passion. However, he was the pawn of a shinobi infiltrator who had uncovered blackmail material on Raikū's immediate family from their own diaries. [1]
