Asako Fujiko was appointed as head of the Imperial Observer during the struggle for the control of Gakka province between the Scorpion and Lion Clans. His predecessor, Otomo Hokan, has been beheaded in the battlefield, and rumor pointed to the Bayushi commander, Bayushi Konitsu, as the culprit. [1] The Lion stormed a temple and killed the Scorpion Command Staff there, tainted themselves with dishonor in order to achieve mere temporal victory on the field. Some requested Akodo Unmei's seppuku for his actions, but he refused. Ikoma Jun, the political leader of the Lion efforts, gave up all rights to the captured domain. [2]
