al-Qamari, the Children of the Moon, was a secret organization based in the Cradle of the World devoted to opposing the pharaohs. [1]
Resistance[]
Pharaohs were the divine Sun Kings rulers of the Rempet Empire, tyrants who practiced slavery, foul magic and were protected by undying guards. The al-Qamari were forced to operate at night, striking from hiding. [1]
Ki-rin Clan[]
When the Ki-Rin Clan reached the Rempet empire their leader was kidnapped by the Sun King Nephrentep, who intended to use Shinjo-no-Kami's divine blood in a ritual to prolong his life. Clever Ide allied with the al-Qamari, and together staged an attack doomed to failure on the temple-palace. Eventually the moon blotted out the sun, throwing day into night, and ruling supreme until the Pharaoh was cast down and Shinjo liberated. [1]
Demise of the Sorcerer-Kings[]
Over the century that followed slave revolts led by the al-Qamari toppled the sorcerer-priests from their thrones. The Cradle of the World collapsed into warring tribes and city-states, where djinn haunted the wild places and rogue sorcerers importuned the place. [1]
Qamarism and the Qamarist Caliphate[]
Eventually a man known as the Nameless Prophet came to the broken Rempet Empire with new teachings and a new way. His first followers took on the mantle of the al-Qamari, and the new faith became known as the Qamarism. The prophet founded a new Empire in the region by prayer or by strength of arms, and his succesor became the first Caliph, and so the Qamarist Caliphate was created. [1]
