Akodo Unmei was a rikugunshokan of the Lion Clan.
Gakka Province[]
During a rift for the control of the Gakka province, Unmei was the commander of the Lion forces which would confront the Scorpion. He would counter the terror unleashed by the infamous enemy general, Bayushi Konitsu, with his own, Ikoma Jidai. Unmei was sure of his victory, so shortly after the engagement of both armies, he gave their plans to the Imperial Observer, Otomo Hokan, sent to concede victory to the army who had the upperhand, stepping in to decide this war without needless additional bloodshed, [1] but he was eventually Shokan slain in the battlefield. The Scorpion seized an strategic Taoist temple, and entrenched there the Bayushi command staff. Unmei ordered to storn the castle and kill their enemies to a man, against the opinion of his chief advisors Kitsu Domen and Ikoma Jidai, who expected these path of actions would anger the kami and alienate the Brotherhood of Shinsei. Death[]
The Lion had tainted themselves with dishonor in order to achieve mere temporal victory on the field. Some requested Unmei's seppuku for his actions, but he refused. Ikoma Jun, the political leader of the Lion efforts, gave up all rights to the captured domain. Komaru, a ronin, somehow managed to kill Unmei. [3]
