Agasha family (TCG)

Clan: Dragon Clan (TCG)
Founded: Unknown
Daimyo: Unknown

The Agasha were a family of the Dragon Clan, renowned by their shugenja, [1] and their alchemists, who prepared powerful potions. [2]

Founding[]

The Agasha were founded by a pacifist, but later they had become militant. Once devoted to mysticism, they later combined it with the practical arts. [3] The Agasha family came to include like-minded individuals who journeyed to join the nascent clan—particularly those with an affinity for the Elemental spirits. [4] They focused on their studies of the elements and the natural world. [5] The Castle Agasha was its seat of power. [6]

Role[]

The Agasha family studied alchemy, which taught them both to shift between the Elements in their prayers and to create such wonders as specially treated sword blades and the powder for fireworks. Dragon shugenja were a common sight on the battlefield, working together with their Mirumoto cousins. [7] They also delved deeply into metallurgy, and medicine. [8] The Agasha also shared the role of archivists and historians with the Togashi, but their writings emphasized the natural environment. [4]

Tradition[]

The Agasha had a particular devotion to those kami who were apart from civilized Rokugan. The Agasha believed that they were far more representative the true character of the Elemental kami. Guided by the series of essay The Mysteries of Leaf and Stone the Agasha excelled in medicine and the healing arts, making extensive use of plants, and the substances derived from them, in treating injuries and illnesses. The Agasha also applied the Mysteries to their artisanal work—metallurgy, weapon and armor-smithy. Because of their close association with the Elemental spirits, the Agasha had a notably Fortunist bent in their worshipful practices. [9]

Lands of the Agasha[]

The lands of the Agasha, known as The Twisting Labyrinth, were a complex sprawl of mountain ranges and peaks, and intervening valleys. [10]
