Agasha Hakeo was a member of the Dragon Clan who wished to become an ise zumi. Once he realized he would never find the High House of Light, concluded he was unfit to join the Togashi. [1]

Enlightenment[]

Hakeo began a fasting of one thousand days that worn his fat, followed by another fasting of the same period, eating only bark and roots while drinking tea made from the poisonous sap of the lacquer tree, which desiccated their flesh. Finally, he finished his self-mummification burying himself in a stone tomb, to reach enlightenment. Since that day his followers formed the Acolytes of the Incorruptible, a sect of the Brotherhood of Shinsei. Even within the Brotherhood, they were viewed as borderline heretics. [2]

Tale of Hakeo[]

The mummification violated the Imperial edict that all bodies should be cremated to prevent their use by maho-tsukai, but they were permitted to continue with their practices. It was said that Hakeo's mummy snapped the neck of the maho-tsukai who attempted to re-animate him before returning to his resting place once more. [3]
