- Emperor Hantei Ningi orders Togashi Kaze to show him his martial arts techniques. Kaze refuses, and his execution is ordered. The Emerald Champion Doji Kuzume committs seppuku in protest, but the Emperor elevates the Lion general Matsu Noshin temporarily to the position, and Kaze is executed anyway.
